Principle and principal

Principal means first or main, as in “the principal reason for our success”. Principle means fundamental, as in a belief (“my principles won’t allow me to steal”), a tenet (“the principle behind this is profit”) or in approach (“we agree with your idea in principle, but we’d like to make some changes”).
