Noun phrases

A group of words that acts as a noun. In the sentence “I like the food they serve here on Tuesdays”, “the food they serve here on Tuesdays” is a noun phrase. You can test whether a group of words is a noun phrase by substituting them for a single noun. We can substitute “food” for the previous noun phrase, and the sentence is still grammatical: “I like food”.
