Etc.

Etc.

Etc. comes from the Latin “et cetera”, which means “and the rest”. Because the “et” means “and”, you should never put the word ‘and’ before it. And because the whole word has been shortened, it is best to put a point after it, to show it is an abbreviation. The word can seem a bit lazy or dismissive, so make sure you don’t overuse it.
